"For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him..."
2 Chronicles 16:9a
May He find us fully committed, selfless servants with all things seen and unseen. Holding back nothing, just as Jesus gave it all and silently bore it all on the cross. Worthy is the Lamb. Change our hearts, oh God.

to crave
My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
when I remember you upon my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
when I remember you upon my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
Psalm 63:5-8
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:33
Crave this.

Words
I used to think that the best kind of reflection / message from the heart was one that took at least half an hour to write, if not an hour or longer. Now I'm starting to think that sometimes the best is said in 10 minutes, sometimes typed on an iPhone, sometimes on a napkin - a first draft with all the un-gracefully crossed out words and the ugly indentations where one pen slowly ran out.
The Bible talks about being careful with our words. But I think there can also be sin in taking our own words too seriously. The kind of self-centered-albeit-good-intention-ed strain that we have when we're trying to be our non-Christian and Christian friends' Savior or stressing out about "glorifying God" through schoolwork or in general being upset when God doesn't show up the way we wanted in our service.
He is the vine, we are the branches. And to obey is better than sacrifice. Some days, like today, I am frustrated when the younger and the older girls in my fellowship run after making extravagant sacrifices for God and neglect obeying Him where He has placed them. I struggle with the same.
There is a time to keep silence and a time to speak.
May He be Lord of the timing and the time spent choosing our words and thinking through our actions.
